"The Arts" is not a generalized participatory construct
Arts Industry Alliance is a non-profit organization focused on programs and initiatives of education, production and recognition. AIA strives to shine the light on the independent artists and performers already creating culture within your community, as well as cultivating opportunity for the emerging young artists with professional aspirations. AIA aims to reduce the influence of the "middle man", while fostering the role of the experienced artist as cultural facilitator. Who knows more about producing arts or entertainment? Someone with decades of experience in the field, or a professional from a different industry sitting on a committee or board of directors?
Returning the "Art" to "The Arts"
AIA is giving a voice to the creators of original content within their communities.
A large portion of "arts" funding is allocated toward initiatives that import programming and talent from larger, more established markets. This approach often offers great opportunity for arts and entertainment fans in the community, but rarely supports the cultivation of original work unique to the region. AIA would like regionial artists and musicians to be embraced as part of the "supporting local" movements we've seen blossom in the food and craft beer industries. If we focus on keeping a larger portion of our funding in the community, we can create a more sustainable arts economy.
